Farm Animal Rescue:
ACI works with Animal Acres, a Los Angeles farm animal sanctuary directed by Farm Sanctuary co-founder Lorri Bauston, to provide lifelong, loving care for farm animals confiscated from cruelty.

Rescue & Refuge
Animal Acres is located on a beautiful 26 acre farm just 45 minutes from Los Angeles. Here hens who had spent their entire live in small cages to produce eggs, are stretching their wings and sunbathing under sunny blue skies. Sick and injured pigs and cows who were abandoned at stockyards because they were considered “useless” are now happy, healthy, and loved. Sheep saved from a grisly slaughterhouse, can be seen jumping for joy as they play “king of the hill” in the sanctuary pastures. And turkeys gather around you in the beautiful courtyard, especially if you have brought a picnic lunch!

You can provide lifelong loving care for suffering farmed animals by joining the Adopt-a-Farmed Animal Project. The number of animals rescued and cared for is always dependent on the number of people who are “adopting” an animal through the monthly sponsorship program. Click here to adopt online today.

Visit & Volunteer
At Animal Acres, you can kiss a cow, give a pig a belly rub and talk to turkeys. The sanctuary’s “animal ambassadors” have a unique way of reaching and teaching people to be kind to ALL animals.

The sanctuary is open for visitors every Sunday, and school and group tours are available by appointment. You’ll also want to attend one of their many special events – from Country Hoe Downs & Compassionate Kids Day to star-studded Galas. Visit www.animalacres.org or call 661-269-5404 for a complete listing of special events and conferences.

Animal Acres has a variety of volunteer programs so you can be an active advocate for farmed animals. The sanctuary offers live-in internships for individuals interested in learning how to operate a sanctuary, or you can join the Animal Caregiver Team and help care for the sanctuary animals. Volunteers are also needed to help clean barns every day from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. – no appointment is necessary.
