Enforcement:

The majority of ACI's farm animal protection is enforced through the two most important California laws protecting animals:
- Penal Code 597 Crimes Against Animals - 'subjects animal to needless suffering'
- Penal Code 597.1 Permitting Animals to go without Veterinary Care - Seizure of animal
With PC 597, and PC 597.1 ACI humane officers, in conjunction with local law enforcement and animal welfare agencies, will execute the authority to seize and remove animals from abusive and neglectful situations. However, there are many other penal codes that protect animals from abuse in a variety of situations and ACI will use all California penal codes to assure that animals are not abused or neglected.
